Sapsucker Sapwells

Some consider the Sapsucker woodpeckers to be “keystone species” on account of their meticulous carvings, providing nourishment for many other creatures. Once chiseled in, each well will ooze sugary sap which can be slurped up by a broad range of critters. There’s also just beauty in the patterns of their work.
