Daytime Night Heron

Black-crowned Night Herons, Nycticorax nycticorax, typically spend their days finding roosts to rest in until dusk when they forage for a wide range of prey items. Searching for food during “off-hours” means they can avoid competing with the other day-time herons for resources.
