Yellow-Rumped Warbler

Setophaga coronata is among the most abundant winter warblers in North America. This “Myrtle” Warbler is one of two subspecies of “Butter-butts”…Audobon’s Warbler has much more of a yellow throat compared to the white of a Myrtle Warbler. While many other warblers migrate south for the winter, they are able to stay closer to home and shift their diet to include berries in addition to insects. (Click image for larger versions)
