Yellow Jackets in the Mud

These Yellow Jackets were collectively focussed on this little patch of mud. It was not clear what was drawing them to this same spot with such enthusiasm, there was no apparent food source. While Mud-dauber wasps collect moist mud to build their brood chambers, yellow jackets build their underground papery nests from chewed up cellulose. Were they all just using the same little watering hole to drink or was something else going on?
