White-crowned Sparrow

Zonotrichia leucophrys, one of the easiest sparrows to identify, can be found throughout much of the continental U.S. While many migrate to and from the far north, our locals are year round residents. In the winter you may find them teaming up with other sparrow species in mixed flocks cruising through scrub lands and meadow edges.
