Celebrating and Caring for the Land

Western Meadowlark

Sturnella neglecta is a member of the blackbird family and a “cow-follower”. A well grazed pasture is an ideal place for meadowlarks to carry out their work as ground feeders, eating seeds and insects. Ungrazed and overgrown grasslands don’t tend to attract Meadowlarks and other ground feeders, being too difficult to forage in…another critter who appreciates cows.
