Variegated Meadowhawks Laying Eggs

Sympetrum corruptum is commonly found throughout much of North America and into Eastern Asia. The more brightly red-colored male clasps the female behind her head while she reaches up and collects sperm from the male. Shortly thereafter she begins dropping the fertilized eggs by dipping her abdomen and depositing them directly into a suitable body of water.
