Celebrating and Caring for the Land

Scouler’s Willow

Salix scouleriana, also called “Fire Willow” is known to do well responding to disturbances like wildfires and logging. The flowers are pollenated by insects and the fluffy seeds are easily carried by the wind. It’s an important larval host plant for many butterflies and moths including Lorquin’s Admiral, Mourning Cloak and several Sphinx moth species.
