Sapsucker

The Red-breasted Sapsucker, Sphyrapicus ruber, can be found busily attending their sap-wells throughout the west coast and the Sierras. While most other woodpeckers have long slender tongues, sapsuckers tongues are shorter with a brush-like shape at the end, effective for lapping up sap, their favorite food.
