Red-Eared Slider

Trachemys scripta elegans is native to the Mississippi watershed but has been introduced in other states and countries around the world where they are often toward the top of the list of worst invasive species. In addition to outcompeting native species for food and habitat they’re also a popular pet and are commonly responsible for vectoring diseases and parasites to native animals and Salmonella to humans.
