This Taricha granulosa female is “gravid” or full of eggs. She’s making her way to a pond where males will vie for the chance to fertilize those eggs. These amphibians typically go through a terrestrial phase, foraging over the land during dryer months and an aquatic (breeding) phase during the rainy season.
