Plant Pubescence

Some plants are able to produce small white hairs, botanically known as “trichomes”, to protect against intense sunlight, winds and herbivory. This fuzzy covering on the surface of leaves is called “indumentum” and the surfaces bearing them is said to be “pubescent”.
