Celebrating and Caring for the Land

Pacific Chorus Frog…a green one

Pheudacris regilla, also known as the “Pacific Tree Frog” may be mostly green or mostly brown or something in between. Using specialized cells in the their skin called chromatophores, they can change color to adjust to the brightness of their environment and in response to their seasonal activities like breeding in the winter and hiding in the summer. It may take days or weeks but being able to adjust their skin color is a useful survival tactic…and adds to their charm.

This frog is definitely pouring on the charm (and seems to like the attention). Beautiful pictures
