Oregon Ash Seed Saving

Our native Oregon Ash is one of 16 North American species of Ash that are susceptible to the invading Emerald Ash Borer. Native to East Asia, first detected in the states in 2002, recently found in Oregon and currently not found in California…but researchers believe it could lead to a 99% loss in coming years. Some conservationists have begun saving large quantities of seed, which can remain viable for decades, to help find ways to respond to the infestation.
