Celebrating and Caring for the Land

Northern Harrier

Circus hudsonius, also formerly known as a “Marsh Hawk” can be found throughout much of North and Central America gliding low over grasslands and wetlands in search of unwitting rodents. They depend on hearing to hunt, more than other hawks, and fly low where things can be heard and pounced upon easier. They have an owl-like face with a ring of special feathers which help in detecting sounds.
