Skunk kits (Mephitis mephitis) can produce that characteristic sulfury spray as soon as they’re born, though it takes time to be able to aim and shoot effectively. Until they improve their marksmanship they give warnings by hissing, stomping, puffing up their fur and generally acting tough.
