Life and Death on a Harding Grass Flower

This Harding Grass, Phalaris aquatica, has it’s stamens hanging out in the breeze. The anthers dangle on filaments to better get their pollen caught by the wind.
Flies can be found alighting on the grass flowers where also awaits an occassional Crab Spider…you can predict the rest of the grizzly tale…
