Like other Egrets and Herons, the Great Egrets, Ardea alba, spend part of their time at the water’s edge and part of their time in the trees. Long dark legs and a long nimble neck make it an efficient hunter in and around wetlands. They also head for the trees to escape dangers, build nests and raise their young. Those long legs, neck and wings take some practice and coordination to balance on bendy branches. (Click image for larger versions)
