Celebrating and Caring for the Land

Juvenile Eagle’s Journey

A juvenile Golden Eagle carries unmistakable white patches on the tail and primaries for its first year, then takes on the golden brown plumage of a subadult. If they survive those first difficult years they get their adult plumage and are able to breed by age 5, some have been known to live to 30 years. Most local eagles are year round residents but others come south to California to over-winter.
