Jerusalem Cricket

Also known as “Potato Bug”, “Skull Insect” in Navajo and “Nino de la Tierra” in Spanish because of their fossorial lifestyle (digging for a living). They are a wingless omnivore mostly focussed on using their strong legs and ramrod head to burrow through the leaf litter and soil in search of roots, tubers, decaying plant matter and other insects.
