Fremont’s Star Lily

Toxicoscordion fremontii, also known as “Fremont’s Death Camas” is a perennial herb found in grassy slopes from Oregon to Baja and other areas of the American west. All parts of the plant (leaves, flowers and bulbs) contain alkaloids that are toxic to humans and cattle…these aphids (below) don’t seem bothered by it, though.
