Celebrating and Caring for the Land

Female Red-winged Blackbird

Male Red-winged blackbirds seem to get all the attention (that’s the way they like it). Flashing those red epaulets and singing non-stop is how a male secures a territory in which can nest many females. It can be a frantic time and a lot of work, this female seemed to take a minute to sit and stretch her wings and have a rest.
