Streptopelia decaocto, or simply the “Collared-dove” was introduced to the U.S. from Eurasia in the 1970s and by the 1990’s could be found in every state including California. Larger than Mourning Dove and smaller than a Rock Pigeon, it’s not clear if they’re outcompeting native doves for habitat but they are known to be vectors for avian trichomoniasis.
