Dwarf Checkerbloom

Sidalcea malviflora, also known as “Prairie Mallow”, is a perennial herb that sends up lovely pink flowers each year from its underground woody rhizome. Found from Washington state down to Baja California it is a widely cultivated species with many subspecies and a host plant to the West Coast Lady butterfly.
