Accipiter cooperii is a dynamic and stealthy hunter of birds, scanning from a hidden perch then flying low and close to vegetation to surprise and chase down their prey. In one study of 300 Cooper’s hawk skeletons, nearly a quarter of them had healed-over bone fractures, likely injuries caused by collisions with branches, etc.
