Eliocharis macrostachya, also known as “Creeping Spikerush”, is a rhizomatous perennial grasslike herb that can be found widely throughout North America and parts of South America. Spikerush tends to form a lovely green apron around the edges of wet areas and has been used in phytoremediation projects using rhizofiltration to remove arsenic in groundwater.
