Celebrating and Caring for the Land

Common Madia

Madia elegans can be found in flower through the summer into the fall, long after most other grassland flowers have come and gone. The flowers are an abundant summer nectar source for pollinators and the seeds are an oil and protein rich food source for many creatures as well as a staple for many west coast tribal peoples.
