Himalayan Blackberry, Rubus armeniacus, is an extremely successful invader. Their fruits are beloved by birds who help spread their seed, they expand vegetatively with underground rhizomes and can produce roots at the tips of their canes when coming into contact with the ground. Adventitious roots are roots that emerge from non-root tissues, some plant cells are able to revert from being specialized in one function to serving another, a process called “dedifferentiation”.
