Avocets Nesting

Male and female American Avocets take turns scraping the ground with their breasts and feet to create a nest, maybe adding a little grass, vegetation or feathers and loosely scattering bits of debris around the edges. They’ll have one clutch of 3-4 greenish-brown mottled eggs that are more pointed at one end, which helps to keep eggs from rolling away.
