Angry Arachnid

Calisoga longitarsus, also known as the “False Tarantula” are California natives and as the name implies, not a true Tarantula. Living in hidden burrows under logs and rocks, they are fairly common though rarely encountered. This male (more slender abdomen) was found roaming the leaf litter, as they’re known to do in the autumn and was instantly and aggressively defensive.
