There are over 70 species of Stink Bug in California, 200 in the U.S. and 5,000 worldwide. This one sports that black and red aposematic coloration as a warning of their ability to release pungent alarm signal to would be predators, some have likened the smell to cilantro, ammonia, skunk and burnt tires.
