A Bee Fly on Thistle

On the topic of Milk Thistle…while it can be an aggressive invader, it does produce an abundant nectar and pollen source for many insects in the absence of other native flowers. This Bee fly, a bee mimic, uses its long proboscis to access the flower’s nectar.
