Little brother of the Yellow Star-Thistle…but no less thorny. Both originate in the Mediterranean and are now applying competitive pressure on native ecosystems in California.While they do provide nectar and pollen for summer butterflies, their ability to take over a meadow and suppress native diversity is disconcerting.
