Green Algae

Large blooms of green algae can be a problematic indicator of nutrient imbalance and sometimes disparagingly referred to as “pond scum”. This very ancient progenitor to green plants has been pumping oxygen into the atmosphere and serving a foundational role in food-webs around the world for over a billion years.
