California Tiger Salamander

Ambystoma californiense is a rare and mysterious endemic amphibian. Evolved to move between a secret life in burrows under California grasslands during the dry season to vernal pools in the wet season, they’re facing the challenge of the loss of most of their native habitat. These researchers and lovers of CTS (California Tiger Salamander) were happy to share that after our first big rains there is a (relatively) healthy population making their way to the pools to breed.
