In the middle of September there’s not a lot of green and growing plants for little critters to occupy, Madia sativa or “Coast tarweed” is still producing flowers and a popular place for arthropods. The sticky resinous glands may trap some little critters, if they’re not taken by the crab spiders. The omnivorous Tree Cricket can be found nibbling plant or fungus material as well as the occasional insect caught in the “tar” of the Tarweed. (Click image for larger version)
