Farewell-to-Spring

Clarkia concinna, “Red Ribbons”, can be found in the shady foothills and mountains of Northern California signaling the end of spring and the onset of hot dry summer days. The bright pink landing-pad petals guide many long-tongued pollinators to the extended hypanthium (nectar tube) which holds a rich reservoir of nectar for those who can reach it.
