Breathing Underwater?

While many species of snails have gill-like structures allowing gas exchange underwater, Garden Snails do not. A simple lung-like structure called the pallial cavity needs exposure to air and can hold enough to stay alive for a couple hours if submerged, hopefully enough time to make a speedy escape.
