Tarweed Meadow

There are many subspecies of Hemizonia congesta, “Hayfield Tarweed”, some with white flowers, some with yellow ones and all with those characteristically glandular and hairy thin stems. Their pollen and nectar production in the late summer makes them a favorite with the insects and their seeds are also a nutrient dense snack for creatures.
