Northern Raccoon

“Trash Pandas” and “Dumpster Bandits” are a couple demeaning nicknames derived from their proclivity for rummaging through human debris but Procyon lotor are an important and adaptable omnivore, native to southern Canada to northern South America. “Raccoon” is said to be derived from their Algonquin name “Arakun” which means “he who scratches with his hands”.
