Many species of waterfowl head for the Sacramento Valley to overwinter in a handful of wildlife preserves…one of the great natural wonders to behold. As many as a million Snow Geese maintain a tradition that goes back to the Pleistocene of leaving their summer breeding grounds in the arctic to travel thousands of miles to overwinter in the relative safety and abundance of the Sacramento Valley wetlands.
