Wild Carrot Nectar

Non-native, naturalized and providing nectar. Daucus carota, “Queen Anne’s lace” came from Europe and has spread throughout North America and beyond. While it can be invasive it is also one of the only flowers pumping out a copious nectar flow for the insects to take advantage of this time of year. There used to be huge populations of our own native carrot species but in their decline this visitor provides nourishment until the native populations rebound.
