Feeding and Teaching Young Titmice

One fruitful couple of Oak Titmice (Baeolophus inornatus) may produce a couple clutches of 3-9 eggs per year. These two adults were in constant motion keeping their three offspring fed. While they learn to navigate the big world outside the nest, the fledglings hound their parents with mouth agape, plaintiff cries and the fluttering of wings. In that process they learn what to eat, and how to forage for it. The California Towhees are at it too (bottom).
