Hairy Gumweed

Grindelia hirsutula, found throughout much of North America, is a summer blooming nectar and pollen source for many insects. Like others in the Aster family, there is a flower “head’ which consists of a ring of ray flowers and the central disc flowers all subtended by the spikey involucre of (green) ring bracts.
