Johnson’s Jumping Spider

Phidippus johnsoni, also known as the “red-backed jumping spider”, is one of the most common jumping spiders in North America. They are believed to be mimics of velvet ants, while the male has a solid red top of the abdomen, the female has a black stripe down the back (pictured here).
