Speckled Black Salamander

Aneides flavipunctatus is a coastal California endemic salamander most often found in temperate forests and grasslands. With several subspecies throughout California, they are able to use their prehensile tails to climb into the trees like their cousins the “Arboreal Salamanders” to forage for invertebrates in the cover of night.
