A Bee Fly

Villa alternata is one of many species of “Bee Fly” found around the world, it uses Batesian mimicry to fool would-be predators by having the colors and patterns of stinging bees. They lay eggs in the ground (below) and their larvae will seek out and parasitize ground living moth and beetle larvae.
