Seven-spot Ladybird and Aphids

Coccinella septempunctata, one of the many species of “ladybugs” in California can often be found slowly munching away on aphids. The Seven-spot ladybird, native to Eurasia, was introduced to North America in the 1950’s as a biological control for aphid infestations.
