Celebrating and Caring for the Land

Sticky Monkeyflower

Diplacus aurantiacus is a native medicinal shrub found on many soil types. It serves as larval host plant for the Common Buckeye and Variable Checkerspot butterflies and is pollenated by humming birds and various insects. It gets part of its name from the resinous “sticky” leaves which is thought to aid in water retention in dry environments and serve as a deterrent to herbivory.
